Phi Partners are a Capital Markets Technology Consultancy founded in 2004, specialising in providing services, products and technology expertise to several of the financial market’s major banks. Phi Partners has been partners with Murex since 2016 and are willing to expand their vendor technology capability by our initiation of our Near-shore delivery centre in Nicosia Cyprus.

Our Murex Services include Front Office, Back Office, Risk, integration, and validation within the Murex platform. Consultants in this line of business have the opportunity to be mentored by industry-leading professionals
based in Nicosia, Cyprus, and abroad. They will work with a variety of top-tier clients, including some of the world’s largest investment banks, asset management companies, and market-leading hedge funds, all from Phi’s Nicosia office. We support organic growth in Cyprus and facilitate the relocation of Murex consultants to Cyprus.

About the Practice

As part of our partnerships with various clients, we are currently expanding our Murex team to keep pace with the growing demand in this area. Our Murex consultants work on projects involving settlement processes, payment systems, confirmations, accounting integration, and regulatory reporting.

Each project typically lasts 12 to 18 months, providing valuable experience with Murex’s pre-trade and posttrade modules across diverse asset classes. As a firm, we offer a comprehensive range of Murex services, including business requirement analysis, system configuration, workflow optimization, and end-to-end process support.

Roles and Responsibilities

System Integration and Configuration

  • Collaborate with clients to configure and integrate the Murex platform according to their specific business
    and functional needs.
  • Implement and configure Murex modules, ensuring efficient integration of Front, Middle, and Back Office
    operations.
  • Customise workflows, settings, and interfaces to align with client requirements for trading, risk management,
    and reporting.

Implementation and Interface Development

  • Assist in the end-to-end implementation of Murex, ensuring smooth integration with third-party systems
    and data feeds.
  • Design and develop interfaces for market data, trade feeds, and risk systems.
  • Ensure accurate data migration and transformation between Murex and external systems, including trade
    booking, settlement, and reporting platforms.

Client Support and Training

  • Provide ongoing support to clients during and after the Murex implementation phase.
  • Troubleshoot integration-related issues and provide technical solutions for complex integration problems.
  • Deliver training to clients on Murex integration workflows and best practices, ensuring efficient system
    usage.

Data Management and Integrity

  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data flowing through the Murex system, including pricing, trade, and
    market data.
  • Manage the setup and processing of key market data (e.g., interest rates, FX rates) across the Murex
    platform.
  • Implement data validation and reconciliation processes to maintain system accuracy.

Regulatory and Compliance Support

  • Assist clients in configuring Murex to meet regulatory requirements such as MiFID II, Basel III/IV, and other
    financial regulations.
  • Ensure that Murex configurations support compliance with industry standards in risk and reporting
    frameworks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Front Office, Risk, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of Murex
    solutions across departments.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and consultants to design and implement customized
    solutions.
  • Participate in project management activities, ensuring timely delivery and quality control throughout the
    integration process.

System Optimisation and Enhancement

  • Continuously optimise Murex system configurations to improve performance and ensure scalability.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements within the system.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Murex releases and integration technologies to enhance system functionality.
The Ideal Candidate

Technical Skills

  • Murex Platform: In-depth knowledge of the Murex platform, particularly in system integration, interface
    development, and module configuration.
  • Programming and Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as MxML, SQL, Unix, and familiarity with
    XML or Python for building custom interfaces and optimizing data flows.
  • System Architecture: Strong understanding of system architecture, including trade capture, data mapping, workflow automation, and API integrations.
  • Data Management: Proficient in managing and integrating large datasets, ensuring data accuracy during migration and transformation processes across Murex and external systems

Financial Knowledge

  • Financial Instruments: Comprehensive knowledge of financial instruments such as derivatives, fixed income, FX, and money markets, and their integration within Murex.
  • Regulations: Familiarity with financial regulatory frameworks, such as MiFID II, EMIR, Basel III/IV, and the associated implications for trade and data integration.

Analytical Skills

  • System Analysis: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot system integration issues and optimise workflows.
  • Process Optimisation: Ability to assess system performance and identify areas for automation and optimization in Murex workflows.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Client Interaction: Excellent communication skills to work with clients, translating complex technical concepts into understandable business terms.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills to collaborate with IT, Front Office, Risk, and other internal teams during the integration process.

Educational Background

  • Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance: A degree in computer science, engineering, finance, or a related field is typically required.
  • Certifications: Industry certifications like Murex Specialist Certifications, FRM (Financial Risk Manager), or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are a plus.

Experience

  • Murex Integration: Prior experience in Murex integration projects, including system configuration, data migration, and interface development.
  • Financial Services: Experience working within the financial services industry or with a financial software provider, focusing on systems integration and workflow automation.
